Academic calendar

 Regular /program/

One academic year at Zion consists of 10 months of school training and two months of a co-operating training. While in school training is conducted by breaking the ten months in to two terms of 18 weeks during each year, the academic year commences in the month of September every year following the official release of the national school leaving exam result. 

All students enrolled in the regular program are expected to take a minimum of 35 hours training per week and a maximum of 40 hours on a full-day length because of the absence

of a shift system. At Zion, all trainees are, as a result, are required to spend the whole day-Monday through Friday at the different campuses of the college learning and studying.

Extension Program

The academic calendar for extension programms is different from that of the regular in that one academic year consists of 14 months of in school training and two months of apprenticeship while the in school training is further broken in to 3 terms of 18 weeks duration each. 

The academic year in the extension program starts parallel to that of the regular program and trainees in this program are expected to take a minimum of 15 hours and a maximum of 20 hours per week, Saturday included. 

Because of the advantages of a continuous nonstop flow the teaching learning process, there is no break between the terms in one academic year. The registrar’s office has the duty and responsibility of notifying students result at the one of every term.

Duration of Training

Zion provides training at levels three and four. The duration of the training at all levels is as per the minimum time requirement for every occupation as set by the MOE. In this respect, while level three training takes two years /24 months/ including apprenticeship, level four training takes three years /36moths/ including apprenticeship.
